So I'm in the process of drawing my dog, Lennon. I know, what a surprise! But yeah, I'm still working on it. I'll have to go back and add some darker parts cause it's looking a little flat/rough.

Anyway, I have no idea what to do background-wise. I don't want the background to stand out too much, but I don't think I want to leave it just white.. So yeah, any suggestions on what to do with the background would be much appreciated cause I'm running out of ideas. If worst comes to worst, I may just shade it a lightly or something. Or I could make the corners of the paper very dark and then make it lighter as it goes toward the head..?

Oh, and do you think I should extend his body down to the end of the paper or just start to fade out at the bottom of the head. I think I'm going to just keep the head in the center but then again that may look a little strange.

I say leave it white. Since it's a close-up, a background doesn't really seem fitting to me...

I agree, just leave it blank. If it were an entire picture of him then you may want to consider a background.

That shading is immaculate; you're quite the artist! I'd also agree with leaving the background blank, and extending the body to the end of the paper.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll just leave it white as you all suggested. I was just afraid that would be a bit boring but apparently it isn't haha.

And thanks Chief Snake :)
