Because the earth is circular, you don't get a perspective on stars. I would actually get some real night sky and use that instead of brushes.
Getting stock of night skies is nearly impossible and if you manage to do it, it almost always looks crap. What I'd suggest is to get a 3D rendering of a starfield instead. Brushes are really one dimensional. It's important to point out though that photomanips aren't meant to follow the laws of nature, sometimes I stick a gigantic moon in the background or something. It's just up to the person. But, personally, I think star brushes should be avoided. 3D renderings all the way.
