This is an improved version of my original first web design. Comments and -criticism are encouraged- and appreciated.

Ok..my comments

-Ditch the 1st big letter thing..it doesnt fit to well
-You still need Headers
-The link stuff is different for home then the other links
-Still - dont use Times New Roman..its bad karma...
-Make the background gradient more subtle

Thanks for comments. Ok, now for answers and explinations I should have included on my description:

The two lines beside the Home link just indiciates you are on that page. If you clicked the Forum link, it would then have the two lines beside it on the navigation bar, and then just the normal dashes beside the Home link. It's just an indicator to tell you what page you are on since I haven't included any titles (headers). Font used was Century Gothic. I'll ditch the large letters before each paragraph and see how it looks.

Any suggestions to what font I should use? I'm not very familiar with this kind of stuff. What font do you like to use often?

i'd stick with century gothic or go for a Verdana.

over all i like the design, i like the navigation :) but i would lower the gradient to something more subtle like Brandt said, oh and the big letters are a no too ;)

but its not bad for a second peice

1. Ditch the white first letter thing - annoying
2. You need titles/header <h1>

Like;
the colors,
gradient (what if the page is larger then you example, what then happens with the gradient?)
the graphic links

New web design - JDesigns, Inc. (a fictional web designing site).

Header boxes are in use temporally, until I upgrade it with a better layout.

Ok..the concept is good..now..my recomendation is, either get a moon texture from somewhere of a similar color scheme, or make a whole new layer covering all the content areas and paint on starts, and a planet, etc..the works..and then set that layers opacitiy to about 50%..because..right now the content area is kinda boring...also..that white 1/2 circle thing.. could be rotated up to the left about 20 degrees...

Yeah, I usually would use Arial or Century Gothic font, but I just wanted to try out the new font I downloaded. As for the boring background, I revamped it with a more exciting background in the content area.

Just click the deviantart link above again to see the edited version.
