i was playing with the settings and got a canvas look for this, and I thought it turned out pretty well, so here it is:

Looks nice, but IMO I think it's kinda too canvasy.

Even though I have no idea how to do this I think you could tone down the ridges or something like that.

Didn't Thief do something like this?

Turn down the intensity of the canvas texture, it's a little too hard to see the actual picture because of it.

AS mushroom said. Because of the intensity, it has lost the effect of it actually being painted.
