Yes, I confirm, they're fractal :P Those being my speciality, I'm not too comfortable with other kinds, so I'd rather stay with my very own strength. :P

Fractals are still considered C4D's though.

Fractals like the ones Iron Maiden has used have been made in Apophysis. C4D's are made in Cinema 4D, which goes by shorthand as C4D, hence the name. While there are other fractal creation applications out there (I think the other main one is UltraFractal or something), Apophysis is free and therefore it's one of the most popular. Same goes for abstract 3D renders as I believe another popular choice is Bryce, but it's been a very long time since I've delved into that area.

Anyway it's not anything to fuss over, I just mentioned that for you earlier because it's good to be able to make the distinction in future. ;)
