Not bad at all for a first shot :P

The first thing I recommand, is to go to Deviant Art and download brushes (Or you can go to check Humus' sticky), Try to give a 'meaning' to your background, make it represent ''something'' , if you know what I mean. Plain background are fine for starting, but if you want to aquire more experience, I'd try to stick with more complex things :P

For the text, It's fine, yet a bit too simple thought. I'd try to add strokes, it always add a nice ''finished job''. Plus, to make it more blended, I'd put the oppacity to around 80-85%

Blending job of the render is good, The red suits perfectly. I personally love to add lightning to my signature, it's always catchy for the eyes :P

As for the size, it's kind of large, but I also prefer to work with bigger signature, to make more details. But the story is different since yours is a bit plain.

A final note on the background would be the colors. Anubis always used to tell me that Red and Green dont go well together (unless it's Christmas Releated), Althrough I would have to disagree abit, because I think it's actually look pretty good. But the only thing is; The red is too bright compared to the green.

Not bad, alot better than my first (trust me, it was horrible :( )
The more you will make, the more you will gain experience and get even better results :P

Have a nice day.

It's very empty. I would get some brushes or put a low opacity C4D in the background. Also the render isn't very well blended. You should put an outer glow on it that helps it fit into the background better. You have used good method with the background though, it just wasn't implemented in the right way. Take a look at some tutorials and with some time and practise you could be good :D

Mixing tan, red, and blue is not a good combination at all. I'm no Photoshop expert, but I'd recommend taking the stock, copying it enough to cover up all the white on a template, then add some Gaussian blur to it. I think that would be a better background.

EDIT: And it would look something like this:

I didn't actually means C4Ds. I meant this sort've thing. You can put them on low opacity on the background and it adds something else to the background. As for your new sig, it's not really a good idea to brush over the render it doesn't look good. The background is a bit better though. Do try and find some tutorials, they'll help a lot.

Yeah. Also, when using C4Ds, its best to set their layer modes to lighten or screen. As for the sig, the colours are way too garish. Use http://kuler.adobe.com/ to pick a colour scheme that'll work. Keep working at it though. Read tutorials and download PSDs to improve your skills. :)
