OH NOES FOR LOSS OF FACIAL SHADOWS!!! lol
Without shading to show shadows and the effects of light on the face, the face appears flat and disfigured. Add shadows to the face and possibly to the clothing and hair and it turn out even better.
Well, looking at the original, there really is not facial shadowing since they used a photo filter. Next time, try drawing a normal photo (without any editing done to it) and see where that goes. This drawing just looks too flat. An alright start though.
