THere was a security issue a while back because of .jpeg images.. There was a security code inside of the .jpeg that could be changed or something that could install keyloggers and other programs onto your computer without you knowing. Or in just simple form it was a secruity breach with the .jpeg file. So i say, ban the .jpeg file (not .jpg) .jpeg.

First, that will effect many people. And secondly, I don't think it was the jpeg. file that hacked.

it was some kind of exploit, dont think it was a keylogger, whatever it did it allowed a hacker to do what he needed..

.jpg and .jpeg are pretty much the exact thing also.

I thought jpeg and jpg were the same thing? Doesn't it say save as J-whatever and then in parentheses, jpeg, jpg?

Ok. I remember, before, computers only read 3 digit extensions. But many Internet files uses 4 digits.
Just like html and htm. They are basically the same thing, htm was created just to fit some computers which only accpeted 3 digit extensions. but now, most computers can read html. Soon, htm. will be get rid of and html will be the official extensions.

The JPG exploit was a very long time ago. Also since most people use paint for the screenshots the quality is not that great. Anyways what everyone needs to do who runs windows is to keep the machine updated, run a firewall, virus scanner, spyware scanner. This is how you keep yourself safe. An updated computer will get infected less often. I follow this way of keeping my machine safe. I have not had a piece of spyware on the machine in 2 months. So it really does help to be updated and secure.

Please do this and you will be safe.
