Another suggestion

I think that it would be kinda cool if we had member/user of the month. The mods and admins get to pick who it is and every month a new member is chosen and gets to put something in their sig. I dunno it just came to me last night cos i was thinking about how buissnesses have like employee of the month and stuff so ye..let me know what u guys think

Rules:

1) no spamming to try and get posts up to get them to pick u
2) no sucking up to the mods in pms (still pm or whatever but dont be cheap)
3) there must be a majority vote so all the mods have to decide together and whoever gets the most votes for that month wins it
4) there could be a nomination thread so other members can nominate peeps
5) no nominating yourself or scheming to nominate each other
6) any members in the running or being nominated must have at least 30 posts (or how will we know anything about you)
7) the same person cant be chosen more than 3 months in a row to give other people a chance
8 ) mods cannot nominate themselves or other mods or just pick from mods straight away
9) other people can nominate mods tho
10) when mods choose they cannot base their choice on something that has happened solely to them (eg he came pking with me or he gave me 1mil)
11) no spamming or posting useless topic or posts to get ur post count up to 30

there might be a few more rules to add too if i think of anymore

i dunno about the extra forum but the choosing could be on whatever they want but the member would have to be worthy of it. it could be on something like the most (non spamming) posts during the month or the most helpful member or even someone with a really cool sig. stuff like that basically, but they are allowed to choose.

and dan what kind of problems?

there are a few ppl on the forum already who would be worthy of being a member of the month. i guess it could cause jealousy problems maybe, or maybe someone would think that they should get it and no one else.. i dunno.

That would be a nice idea.. But you should list the rules, etc ...

and about the unfairness bit there wouldnt be because of the rules and also if someone just happened to get selected for 3 months then thats it someone else will get chosen next time cos they cant be chosen more than 3 months in a row. this is almost like SOTW..theres unfairness there too someone might have thought that their sig was the best but someone else just kept getting chosen, no matter what you do you cant always please everyone so as long as its as fair as possible thats a much as i can do right?

Thats really nice, good if you put it in first post to let more ppl know what you are doing..
I really like the nomination part .. Let see what our Admins say about this.

w00t, lots of requirements to become the member of the month, I'd choose the people that have made really good guides last weeks and who have put hours of work typing, thinking and taking pictures.
Perhaps everyone get's points per vote.
Those votes are given to great guides, bug reports, prepositions, etc.
also for especially good behavior and good trading in the market forum.

sad, this would provoke bad things to happen like people making tons of posts about their sales and then get alot of positive feedback, perhaps by buying their own goods.

The good thing about this is that you can improve the system so there can't be any abuse, takes hell alot of thinking work.

well you know you only get out what you put in and i think this is a good idea and would benefit everyone and give something else to look foward to about the forum so im prepared to put in work to make it happen

Even if we say dont spam ppl are still gonna spam thinking they will win.
Also people that were nomitated and didnt win will complain and become mad :\

and besides, I love the way I post, if I ACTUALLY get selected, I dont want a load of people piling me complaining about the way I post and how I actually earned member of month

ye thats true about the spamming. and also i didnt think about making your jobs harder :oops:

i spose then mods could do a selection of judges just once and then leave it up to us after that that way the mods jobs dont get any harder. and also theres always gonna be trouble with spamming thats something that will never stop. the sooner people realise that spamming WONT get their chances up im sure that it will decrease. about the people getting mad...i would have thought that peeps here were a little more mature than that, and if not then they can go and have a cry, its just a bit of fun and im sure eventually that everyone will get a chance at being it..the longer u stay at rsbandb the more chances u have of getting it right

I use to be a moderator (on this site btw), and from experience, it is hard trying to keep all the spam under control.
