How come when ever i try and use colours and lager fonts they never work?

Are you trying to use html? Because that doesnt work.
The trick is to go like this:

Code:

[color=red]TEXT HERE[/color]

For a different color,

Code:

[size=24]TEXT HERE[/size]

For larger/smaller text

Code:

[color=red][size=24][/size][/color]

For both.

Make sure you highlight your text, then pick what you want. And make sure that your tags are closed, or do'nt have a double closing, that is a common problem.

Oh so when i use the butons i have to highlight the text and then push the butons or pik the coulor i want not coulor text then coulor again
