As we move into the new year we are making some changes to the warning model that we use on RuneWire. This has been spurred by an increase in flaming due to certain types of posts. Any time that flaming comes up creates an environment that is unacceptable to us. To combat this we are stepping up the moderator presence on RuneWire. This also however requires your participation, the user. If at any time you find a post/reply that you feel might be questionable please do not hesitate to report it.
Following from this I want to talk about the type of posts that RuneWire can be used for and how to interpret RuneWire. There is no off topic posts on RuneWire. Off topic is something that is associated with a forum. Any type of post is suitable for RuneWire as long as it is not rule breaking. If you want to post something that is not RuneScape related there is no rule preventing that. The reason that this is allowed is because RuneWire moves quick enough that even a few non-RuneScape posts each day will not significantly change the atmosphere of RuneWire. Anyone caught flaming or harassing other members posting these types of posts will be warned. If the person in question continues flaming or harassing after receiving a warning their account will be terminated. You can find provisions for this in the
RuneWire rules.
With this comes another point, how RuneWire should be used. It's important to realize that RuneWire is not like a forum. RuneWire is a messaging system, the analogy that I and the rest of the RuneWire team used when creating it was that of an instant messenger. Looking at RuneWire as a RuneScape instant messenger allows you to focus on short quick messages that are to the point. If you think of each post on RuneWire as if it was a forum topic and replies, you are not experiencing RuneWire in the way it was meant to be used. In other words, RuneWire is laid back while a forum has a specific topic that must be adhered to.
