How to apply vuln during Telos phase 2-5?

For phase 1 I just toggle the vuln on and click on him. For phase 2 to 5 right after the cutscene I want to spam Spellbook swap + Vuln so that my first auto on Telos will be Vuln, but my character uses an normal auto attack on him even when I am on manual. What should I do?
