i'll expand a bit on what southy said...
the zmi crafts random runes each time. usually you get at least one of every kind of rune. you get double exp per rune, but no multi crafting. so, the lowest runes, air, give 10 exp, same as a death, and blood/soul runes, where they able to be normally crafted, would give 10.5/11 exp, and at zmi, give 21/22 exp ea.
since you tend to make more lower level than higher level, your average should be just over 15 each, not quite 16
its best to use the lunar magics method of ournaia runecrafting. in short, you bank on lunar island, teleport to ourania, run to the alter and pray, run to the *runecrafting* alter and craft your runes, empty pouches and re-craft, then teleport back to the moonclan to bank. keep protect from ranged prayer on the whole time. if you want to, use steel skin and mystic might as well. best protection against all 3 combat styles.
each monster has a max hit of 9.
as far as equipment:
your choice of helm
spotted/ier cape
choice of amulet
earth/lava/mud staff
dragonhide body
mind shield/sara book
dragonhide chaps
pennance / barrows gloves
boots of lightness
ring of life.
imventory: 10 law runes, 20 astral runes, huge pouch, large pouch, medium pouch, small pouch, max rune ess.
with that setup, you should get about 780 exp per trip.
