ancient staff

well i just finished desert treasure ( btw thx to all who helped ) and was gonna get the ancient staff. But i wanted to know the significance of it before i spent 80k on it. does it just give good mage bonus or what?

I dunno, I don't really see the point in getting ancient staff just for +5 magic bonus, I'd rather use an elemential staff and not have to use 1 type of runes.

In fact I use normal elemential staff's sold from the staff shop in varrock, you don't really need the melee bonuses if you are using magic only. The normal elemential staffs give same magic bonus as a mystic.

Also you can only auto cast with the anicent staff using anicent spells or other spells too i think. So if you use a fire battle staff or waterbattle staff you can't set ice burst as your auto cast. Rather you must go to the spell screen and click attack each time.

Even though i haven't done the quest or gotten the staff, I'd think the ancient staff is much better. Here is why:

1) Ancient Staff allows casting of multiple enemy hitting spells such as ICE BARRAGE (lvl 94 magic, 30 max for everyone in hit area and 15 sec freeze)

2) Each spell has its distinct effect. (e.g. ice freezes, blood restores hp)

3) You can take out entire clans with this (cast blood barrage and sit back)

These spells are a bit expensive but are the BEST spells out there. Much better than the wave spells and ice barrage has the same max hit as the arena spells with multitarget and 15 sec freeze. you do not need the ancient staff to cast the spells, it just lets you use them as auto-cast- an elemental staff would be cheaper and more useful to use unless you want the extra liitle magic bonus or wouldnt have time to click on the spell every time

So really..unless your a mage pker..you don't particuly need this staff at all..the spells sure as hell arent any good for training so unless you're planing on pking..stick to the old ones.
