Obby Shield or Rune Defender?

okay, obby shield gives def bonus and the same str bonus as defender. However, rather than def, the rune defender gives att bonus. So, if you wanna tank or something, obby shield is good, but for something like slay tasks, the defender is overall better. You also have to consider the price, as the obby shield is 200k? whilst the rune defender is free but costs time. I'd have to go with the rune defender though, just my opinion though.

If you're looking for Defence stats, use Obby Shield. If you're looking for higher Str Bonus, use the Rune Defender.

I agree but if you kill the cyclopes for the rune defender you might get a few clue scrolls

Rune defender is worth the time plus cyclops and armor r good xp. So it's not a complete waste of time

i **** hate all of you. go get a runite berserker shield from fist of guthix. obsidian shields are steaming hunks of crap since those came out. and if you complain about recharging, i'll complain that you suck at hide and seek.

For only a +1 rating on the rune kite when the berserker is 100%, I stick with the kite, simply just because it doesn't degrade. Convenience. It's not because I suck at FoG, I just hate gong there because of the little skill involved. I'm sure that members items have much better options.

If you can't afford a DFS, Use the rune defender for most things like training etc. Use the obsidian shield for times where you may need high defence such as tanking Bandos etc.

nvm, sorry for raging. i hadn't looked at the obsidian shield's stats in a while and thought it only had 3x defense in everything but ranged, and that the one less strength from the rune berserker was outweighed by the 15+ defense stat gains over the toktz ket xil. QQ i'm dumb. (though one of few that actually calls it by its legit name most of the time :3 )

Obby Shield for strong monsters.. and rune defender for monsters that aren't as strong

Defiantly rune defender. It give attack bounces such as slash, stab, etc. Less defense they obby, but its worth the sacrifice.

My general rule is, obby shield for anything above level 100 that I expect to take a few hits off. Defender for anythig below that I can kill relatively quickly and shouldn't take much damage. (Im 92 combat by the way)
