The original poem of
Richard Cory (click to view original poem) is based on the view point of the lower-class people (in this case, the worker who works the night shift) and how they envied Richard Cory on the surface, but never realized that inside he was unhappy and lonely.
So what I did is I rewrote the poem in my words with the opposite view point; with the view point of Richard Cory instead.
Dr Doom wrote:
Richard Cory
My name is Richard Cory,
And I have a depressing story.
Despite all my grace, wealth, and power
I felt like jumping off a tower.
All the people wished they could be me,
Oh, but little did they see,
I am an outsider;
Trapped in a dark paradox of loneliness,
Unhappy as could be.
They thought I had it all,
Oh, but little did they know,
I am an outsider;
Flowing on a never ending stream,
Heading straight towards a waterfall.
I couldn’t take it anymore,
It was time to close the door;
I went home that night and put a bullet through my head,
My name is Richard Cory.
