Highest PC Game Ping

I created a server on Quake 4, and this player who decided to join had this massive ping. This is the highest ping I've ever seen before. He must have been around 5000 miles away from where I was, to have a ping like that.

By my knowledge of MMO-FPS games, I'd say, perhaps he was using a satellite connection?

Holy hell! Thats one horrid ping. I gues she has good reasoning behind. I don't like 300 ping, I'm normally at 50 or 40 on the gaming servers that I like.

Yeah, but Kilika's ping is 11,589 ping. That's just ridiculously awful.

Can someone please explain to me the concept of "ping"? I do not play ANY multiplayer shooters over the internet because my parents do not like the fact that others playing on the internet curse often.

The time it takes for one(yours) computer to receive a sent "message" from another computer(i.e a server). The higher then number the longer its taken for this "message" to be sent out. And when playing Multiplayer games you want the lowest possible ping you can get.

It means, if someone shot him, it would take him 11 secs to notice lol

Ping= delay in ms
ms= 1/1000 sec

And usually, the higher the ping, the greater chance your computer will lag during play.

Yes, but lag is also in link with your FPS (frames per second) depending on your video card. If you run a game with 50+ FPS, lag shouldn't be caused by that but by Ping.

On topic: Omg that sure is a lot of ping o.O The biggest ping i saw was around 1000 when a whole CS:S server crashed loll

I'd challenge you to a game of Quake of only the graphics wern't too intense for me. I basically can't play Quake without feeling like I just got off a jet plane after a 10hour flight.

My highest was 999 on JK2, well that is the max number but who knows how high the ping was actually.

I seen 20,000 ping on Battlefield 2 before, forgot to screenie it though :-&
