Whenever I try to open this particular file I get this message:
Image

My mouse cursor was literally over "save" when the guy fixing my boiler decided to trip a switch thus making the electricity go off and the computer.
I HAD saved it before then, but for some reason it won't open .

The file may have been corrupted since your computer did shut off right at that second. Thats all I can think of. Well, there is one more thing. I have never used GIMP before so I don't know if it has special file types, but make sure its the correct file type.

I'm not a GIMP user, however, I did a Google search on this.

It seems like only the file is corrupted since you say the error only occurs on this particularly file. Try opening a xcf file and see if this happens.

You also might want to try some data recovery tool if the file is corrupted and you really want to get it recovered. However, I can't guarantee anything. Try this http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download if interested.

Yes GIMP has its own file types like PS, which xcf is one of them.

As Jeff said it is probably corrupt, sorry. But you could try opening it on another computer or sending it to someone (me?) to see if they can open it with there GIMP.

Spoiler for Everything else:

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much."
And spread his arms out on the cross and died.
If you believe that he did this for you put this in your signature.
