Alrighty, so that corresponds to the question I asked 'Do the same games / discs / iPod(s) work on different computers?'

If they don't work on other computers, you may have defective discs/whatever and your computer is working fine. Something tells me this isn't the case, however. I haven't asked yet, but I'd assume you already tried putting a different disc / USB (or however your mp3 player interfaces with the computer) device into the same places. Though it'd be strange for two things to stop working at the same time, it's not exactly impossible.

Yeah, other discs worked on the same drive, but my ipod still charges even though the computer acts like it isn't there.

My MP3 player turns itself on when it's plugged into the computer, but the computer hasn't booted up yet, which would indicate that it automatically leeches from the computers power supply, or whatever. That should mean that since yours is still charging, that it's not a problem with the USB port itself, but the software on the computer.

This happened to me on my laptop with my itouch. If you have other USB ports try those.
also plug it in and go to my computer and see if it says anything in there about removable devices.
If it doesn't show up it means either your ipod or computer port is messed up.

EDIT~ I didn't see there was another page, as chief said, it might be the software/computer. That might mean:
1) Update drivers (pfk said already)
2) Update anything related to your ipod
3) Wouldn't recommend this, but you might want to try this as a last resort...System restore

Edit: Problem solved. I have no idea what was up, but it suddenly works now. :D
