This isn't really an actual computer problem but it's close enough. I have some smear on my monitor that won't come off with kleenex and I need help.

What is reccomended to clean monitors with?
Can I use a damp cloth when my computer is turned off or do I have to use something special? I don't have a flatscreen monitor if that matters.

Any imput you could give would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks.

Since you don't have a flatscreen monitor, you need to go out and buy a cleaning solution for the glass. You can find it at just about any computer store. When cleaning, turn your monitor off and always spray the liquid onto a tissue or microfibre rag (never spray anything directly on the monitor).

No. Especially on a glossy monitor, water will just smear and look crappy.

I use pure alcohol to clean mine. It's a fluid that actually came with a CD cleaning kit. Works brilliantly. Put some on a towel, rub it into the monitor, then dry it off with a towel as well. Make sure the towel is fairly fluffy, not one of those horrible coarse ones.
