MSN is crap.

It's probably just having a "phase" where it breaks for you. Does that to me occasionally.

Well I'm no Tech Guru...but I suggest Windows LIve Messenger........Its MSN pretty much...but yeah...I don't know if it would help or not...but its worth the try?

My MSN does that a lot, too. It also goes through times where everything I type gets sent back to me with a "Unable to send message to all recipients" error. Annoying! :evil:

If I remeber correctly + is not an official Microsoft program.

Try what Samuel said just install msn 7.5 and see if you have the same problem.
