Hmm.....well, i got a new microphone with headphones. More like headphonies. They don't work when I try to record something.

I plugged everything in correctly. I have all the volume controls configured as well. I can hear sounds through the headset, but audacity won't record what i yell into the mic. Help pl0x?

They're plugged into the microphone plug, right, not the headphones jack on the speakers? Well, in Audacity, right next to the microphone volume, click the dropdown menu and make sure it's set to "Microphone." That's all I can help with.

Did a driver come with it, did the computer detected the new audio device?

a driver...i don't think so. It just came with a thing to change the volume on the headset wire. And i don't think the computer did acknowledge it...funny.

Try going to your control panel's hardware monitor and check for that audio device if it is on or not.
Did you plug the red plug, it's often red...

I never needed a driver when I got a new microphone.

Usually the computer searches itself. Sometimes it doesn't detect, sso you got to like activiate it.
If it finds the hardware and doesn't get the driver, it'll show a question mark in the hardware monitor.

Yea, there should have been something to instal extra harware onto your computer. Microsoft Updates and Hardware Installation in control pannel should be able to make the software thereselves, as i found out with my scanner about a month ago. If its an older model computer (less than millenium editon or 2000) like the Windows 98 (my dear old computer) it probably wolnt have the advanced hardware on it.

3. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
4. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers they are the best in their fields.
Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
3. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
4. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards.

hmm.... It'd be odd if it was a newer microphone and an older computer, they both usually dont mix...... But a new computer will always be ready to install hardware that was previously instalable on an old computer. It's hard to say without actually a computer jock like me to see it. My wireless mouse did the same thing the first day i got it....PROUD MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP OFFICE EDITON USER!
