today is election day and as i did last time, i will be posting an up-to-date message tonight as states start showing the results of this election. members are welcomed to post when the results start coming in. in the mean time, i'll sticky and lock this and tonight i'll reopen and see what happens.

may the best candidate win

okay seems results are starting to come in now.
here is the CNN link if you would like to see the map.
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/president/

electoral vote predictions:
Obama, 80 thus far (including those they predict will win on the east coast)
Mccain, 34 (including those predicted will go toward Mccain on the east coast)

so far Obama has gotten an early lead in Ohio one of the battleground states. numbers are still coming in.

So far, Obama has an early lead in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and many other states on the east cost.
is predicted to win Vermont,Illinois, Maine, New Hampshire

Mccain has won Kntucky, and south Carlina.
He is predicted to win Wyoming, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.

Both are still very early to tell but so far Obama is predicted to have a huge lead in the beginning.

195-90 Obama at the time of posting. Looks like he'll take Florida as well. With the west coast safe states for the Dems this is pretty much over. Unless, as one of the guys on the BBC coverage said; 'you believe in the tooth fairy, and McCain wins California'.

right now the popular vote is very close, mccain has 49% of the popular vote while obama has 50% with around a 300,000 lead.

With the US voting system though popular vote counts for very little. As was proved in 2000 when Al Gore won the popular vote but lost the presidency to Dubya.

The dude at CNN proved it technically impossible for McCain to win, but it's not over until it's over.

He pointed out that if McCain gets every state from now on besides California, Oregon and Washington, he still doesn't have enough to get 270.

It's not over until it's over. Spread the word.

Err.. it is pretty much over. Obama has won the majority of the swing states thus far and he's fast closing in on 270, with California and the rest of the west coast a cert and Florida looking very good for him, he's practically won it. It would be the comeback of the century if McCain took this election now.

What McCain needs now is some sort of Christmas miracle. But seeing as how California likes Obama...idk.

If McCain wins the election at this point then it would be the most amazing thing to ever happen ever.

1/21/09- I can't wait.
