diet coke and mentos

hello all, im planning to do a mentos and coke celebration at the end of the school year. me and a few friends are gonna do mentos n coke stuff. if anyone could figure out how much it would cost for a 1-1 ratio (1 2-liter of diet coke and 1 roll of mentos) im not sure how much im gonna spend but i want to know how much it'll cost per bottle/roll of mentos.

If you're going to go for something old, try Potassium Nitrate, Carbon and Sulphur, in the ratio 15:3:2. That makes a nice bang.

A very nice bang.

Anyway, as for the coke and mentos, you'll probably have to work out the proportions yourself. You want just the right amount of coke and mentos to react such that the mentos are completely reacted and there is enough coke left to get a decent fountain or jet or whatever you're looking for.

I dont know how big mentos are, really, I havent seen them in England, so I cant really suggest anything. You'll have to experiment.

Make sure the Diet Coke is warm. If you drop a Mentos into a cold Diet Coke, your fountain will be quite wimpy.

cost:
$2 - for 2L coke
$1 - for ~12 mintos (one roll)

so:
4 - 2L's = $8
1 - minto = $1

Eat some copper sulphate. Turns your mouth nice and blue.

... and makes you pretty damned ill.

My friend did the mentos and coke thing, but he used pepsi. It sucked, he just got wet and annoyed.

if you can get your hands on dry ice, it works a lot better than dite coke and pepsi. Get a glass jar, fill with hot water, insert a few pieces of dry ice, cap, and throw. Its quite a powerful bomb, but make sure you wear goggles because it sprays glass shards everywhere.

To get started, get a thing of tape. (Scotch tape reccomended) Then what you need to do is:

1.)Take a little bit of tape off of the roll.
2.)Take 3 or 4 Mentos and put the tape on them, tape them together. (lay them like this _ not |.)
3.) Take off the cap of the WARM Diet soda (Preferably Coke), and tape the Mentos in the cap.(Make sure they are taped to the INSIDE of the cap)
4.) Put the cap in VERY quickly and screw the cap on tight.
5.) Throw the bottle on the ground and watch it fly!

Ok get two 2-liters of Diet Coke, and 2-3 rolls of Mentos. Empty the 2-liters into a large bucket, put the Mentos in a cup, throw them into the bucket, run away as fast as you can. And of course, make sure it's warm.

Well you need to be a pretty fast runner, and have the situation set up in a large area, like a backyard. Throw the Mentos in, and run and don't look back until you are far away. Maybe have someone record it on camera and post it on YouTube
