No, it should remain illegal. I think we can all agree that legalising it would encourage other people to use it, which as far as I'm concerned can only be bad. Whilst it may not increase crime (debatable), it is sure to increase stress on the health system.

I'm pretty sure smoking marijuana for recreational uses is worse for your health than not smoking marijuana is.
If you want to weigh things up on that basis there isn't much you'd do because a lot of things are more harmful to us than not doing them at all. It's like logic for the insane. An argument like that is about as watertight as the Titanic after it smashed into an iceberg.
The whole argument a lot of you are making 'it's bad for you ergo it should be illegal', is just so short sighted it misses tobbaco and alcohol, both these things are bad for people and they're still legal. I'm not arguing that Pot is some super drug, hell I'd never do it, but if you think Pot should be illegal because it's potentially harmful to humans then you must support banning tobbaco and alcohol as well, or else your argument just has a massive logical fallacy blasted through it.
Most people agree that the negatives of using marijuana outweigh the benefits,
in the same way as the negatives of drinking alcohol (let alone in excessive amounts) outweigh the benefits. The critical difference here is that the majority of people only drink alcohol in small and controlled- thereby the negative effects go virtually undetected. However, the negative effects of marijuana are far more noticeable and have a much greater affect on the person.
Touching on tobacco quickly... I think tobacco is comparable to marijuana- that is the negative effects can have extreme consequences- therefore the logical step to me is to ban tobacco smoking.
The notion that anything bad for you must be banned is, I agree, totally wrong. Afterall, whilst alcohol
may have negative long-term effects, many people feel the benefits of desirable short-term effects. It is only when negative effects
bar outweigh the benefits that action should be taken- as is the case with tobacco and alcohol.
