Yes Holes is an amazing book. I've seen the movie too :P

If you like fantasy the british way you should read the Artemis Fowl series. I just can't stop reading them at the moment.

1984, by George Orwell was pretty good.

Also, Wizard's First Rule, by Terry Goodkind is good so far, I am reading it now, it is the first in 'The Sword of Truth' series.

Harry Potter is a good series.

Those are just a few I like..
