Ok, this will seem like i hate this film..because it's easy to point out the bad stuff (and more interesting to read) then the good stuff..what can i say? It's good, go watch, fun fun, don't expect to much however. Really i would rate it 8/10. Now for the things that bugged me:
I'll start by listing them:
1) The aliens.
2) The ending
3) The loose ends (so so many...)
Ok now to explain:
1) Ok now picture this: Super intelligent aliens, they build freakin huge robots to destroy everything..they can CREATE lightning and can also travel in it! These are like a super power! Unbeatable. Then the film makes a huge error - it shows you the aliens. Now at first i wanted to see...then i remember what a **** up they make of these things. Now these super aliens..are more like..retarded monkeys. (no other way to describe them really..). They walk on all fours, tell me HOW do you build freakin huge robots with no hands? They don't speak..it's not even a language they just scream.
What got me even more is (major spoiler ahead..ruins the end.) these super smart aliens, the ones that spent a MILLION years planing this manage to travel across the Galaxy and build super duper robots (did i meantion the robots are amazing?) yet there to stupid to realize we may have deasies? I swear to god..they all die of a cold or something within five minutes and for some unknown reason the Shields go down i guess the robots got a cold to.
I mean COME ON! We even know about deases if we send someone into space we make sure there disinfected after wards..yet these guys don't get that?! Stupid.
2) Pretty much just covered how stupid the ending was..one more thing..it was majorly rushed picture this:
They just realized birds are sitting on these robots (the robots are in fact moving..making a load of noise..and a bird would never land on it..but hey this doesn't have to make sense!) that means Shields are down (no idea HOW that happened) so the soldiers shoot the hell out of it and take it down, it then swaps to tom cruise outside a house with his little girl his ex comes out and his son (who might i add should of been dead..no idea how he got there) they huge, then it swaps and shows all dead robots..and it ends. All within 10 mins.
What the hell? SORRY SCIENCE, LET'S IGNORE THE FACT DEASE TAKES MONTHS TO WIPE OUT A WHOLE ALIEN INVASION..YES THEY ALL GO WITHIN 10 MINS OF EACH OTHER, ALSO THE ALIENS SURE AS HELL WOULDN'T HAVE DOCTORS HAHA WHAT A JOKE!! HURRAR THE AMERICANS WIN! The rest of the film was the aliens kicking are backsides..badly. I wish they destroyed us..would of made a better ending.
Now im sure you're bored by now but i demand you sit there and read these loose ends i have major problems with films that do not make sense because of lazy directing (sorry steve..your affects were good but it seems you was drunk while directing.)
- The aliens take are blood and spray it every were for harvesting..sorry WHY or what are they harvesting considering they have just killed everything?
- The son (he can't act..he is terrible) for some unknown reason decides to run off into a war zone (jets firing, tanks going, guns, aliens zaping) with no armor..weapons..just his jacket..5 seconds after he did that it all blows up. Ok he's dead, good riddance. At the end he appears..same clothes...no dirt..no rips...not even hurt. Sorry HOW did you not get hurt?
- The alien robots was SEEN throwing this human to the floor..stabbing him and then sucking up his blood so it can spray it for harvesting. Fifteen-half an hour later they pick humans up and put them in cages...which obviously causes a major weak spot..and oh look..we just happen to have grenades. Sorry why did you change tactics? Are you trying to lose? No explanation for that.
- Some how a big fleet of aliens manages to come up to earth change the weather..create lighting..and not be detected by satellites..further more the space ships where never seen..how did they get there?
- All cars died..except amazingly the main hero was the only guy who could figure out how to make it go..despite not being a car mechanic and never really did show any huge knowledge in this area. NO ONE else could get there's going. Well i say no one else..amazingly all the arms, tanks, jets, helicopters, cars where working..yet no one Else's. HOW are they working? Do they run on double A batteries?
- No explanation as to why there harvesting this planet with are blood.
- Son must secretly be superman to survive this considering he isn't old enough to drive (i believe it is what 16? In America?) yet manages to survive war.
- No proof or explanation as to who sneezed over the aliens to kill them all. Whoever it was deserves a medal.
Now again i liked this film (you should see me when i hate a film) it's just more fun and easyer to pick holes then think up all the good stuff.
8/10 again..go see. The deaths are amazing yet funny. Special affects are some of the best.
p.s NO ONE go see charlie and the chocolate factory..my god..i normally like jonny debt but he is so freakin scary in that film..i nearly got up and left.
