This is what will happen. He will serve some of his time in jail, but he will be released because FBI or something will hire him as Pro Hacker because he's probably a genius.

As far as I know Lulzsec did two things. They have "hacked" an adult website with some [ur=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQL_injectionl]SQL-injection[/url] which resulted in a long list with email-addresses and passwords. Some of those email addresses ended in .gov which they used to just log in on some official websites. Some people just use one password. So that doesn't require must skill, all you need is some dumb but important people.
The other method of their "hacking" is with those DDoS attacks. And everyone can buy a BotNet these days.

Both are highly annoying but everyone is able to do this. It doens't require much skill nor a genius person. You mostly rely on stupid people.

Well seems that they got cornered pretty quickly by some other people.

http://thedailyattack.com/2011/06/26/lulzsec-why-so-seriousss-lulzsec-0wnd-by-the-a-team/ for a complete list of members. One of them lives only 30km away from me I think.

And yes, that could work. Just prosecute him in both places and have him serve time in both. Simple solution.

In all honesty, the CIA should be hiring these people to work for them. These are the kind of people you want on your side. I think the quote "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" fits this idea quite nicely.

It's a double edged sword, hiring those types of people. Sure, they have the knowledge/expertise -- and they could help you, if they chose to. But letting someone who is already known to have hacked other systems in on the security of your system is a gamble that many companies are probably not going to be willing to make.

Spoiler for Nietszche Quote:

But what did such a Teuton afterwards look like when he had been "improved" and led into a monastery? Like a caricature of a human being, like an abortion: he had become a "sinner," he was in a cage, one had imprisoned him behind nothing but sheer terrifying concepts... There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. In short, a "Christian"... - Twighlight of the Idols
