But really, this whole situation is being blown out of proportion. One thing that needs to be stressed is that humans can't contract the disease by eating pork. I won't be worried until people start dying here.

This whole swine flu thing is a bit ridiculous. It seems like if anyone even hears the word swine flue everyone starts crying

As shane said, people arent going to catch the flu from this pig so it isn't that big of a deal.

I agree with both of you guys about the Swine flu being blown out of proportion. It really isn't as bad as any other disease. I just saw this and decided to post, especially cause it was in Canada.

Yeah, you know what? There are 85 confirmed cases in Canada. Out of 33,636,411 estimated population. You can do the math.

Approximately 0.0000025270% of people in Canada are infected with swine flu.

Okay? I see that it has spread, but honestly, about 1 people in 40,000 infected with swine flu is no reason for the Canadian media to go ******* over it.

I agree that it isn't a big deal right now. But the scary thing that is being publicized like crazy by the media is that it is "spreading rapidly." Not to mention that air fare is as cheap as ever, that sure is a threat to all countries.

But at the same time, doctors all over the world have been able to easily treat this flu with normal flu antibiotics. This is just another case of the media taking things too far.

I agree with this. I think people are making too big of a deal over it.

Yes. The media has taken it way too far. This really isn't helping the global economy to come back.

All the Swine Flue is, people, is just a cold, just worse.

Wow Steven, you really need to rethink that XD

It's not a cold, it is a mixture of bird flu and human flu that has been contracted and evolved inside swines. It has all the same symptoms as a normal human flu, because it is, however it is more deadly because nobody has had anti-viral jabs for this type of flu.

Things like tamiflu can help or even cure swine flu, and I guess you are right in your sarcastic tone as if its not a big deal. It isn't, its just a mild pandemic that is being too exaggerated by the media, but it is most definately not just a bad cold.

I read somewhere that this strain of flu has the potential to kill 10,000 more people than regular flu. 10,000 may seem a lot but 10,000 to the (approx.) 60 million that live in the UK is nothing. I'll be worried when 100s of people start dying rapidly that's when you know something is going wrong.

Obviously other people have become a lot more anxious. For example this poor woman who seems to believe that 1 death in her state (not to mention the death was a toddler who had just arrived back from Mexico) This shows what the media hype can do to people. Pretty odd but highly hilarious at the same time.

People fail to realize that although you can die from H1N1, you can also die from the regular flu. You can die from crossing the street to, should the media report about the high danger of emptying my mailbox now?

There are now 165 cases in Canada, though that's mainly because a lot of Canadian tourists go to Mexico.

Still a lot of media hype. Once it's over 5000 in Canada, I'll start treating it with the mass attention the media is giving it right now.

I agree, less than 200 is nothing to get excited about.
But apparently there was the first US citizen dead this morning from Swine Flu. I also hear that she was sick before she got swine flu so that was the real factor towards her death.

To be honest I think the media was looking forward to someone from the US dying just so they could cover the story :evil:
