I have a theory (or perhaps it is just a wish!) regarding the recent Twitch stream Jagex did in regard to upcoming game updates. Of particular interest was the discussion around Tuska and the next World Event. The mods told us that the reason the other Gods cannot directly fight Tuska is because she has absorbed the remnants of the Anima Mundi of Guthix's home world and has a similar protection against them that the Edicts gave to Geilinor.
Could this World Event herald the return of Guthix to Geilinor?
If wee succeed in vanquishing Tuska, could the Anima Mundi be released and find its way to the body of Guthix, still petrified in the chamber we opened during the World Wakes? Many players have been calling for his return, but given what had happened, with Sliske and the Staff of Armadyl, it was almost impossible to see how this could be done properly.
With the Anima Mundi stored in Tuska, could this be the back door fix for Jagex to bring one of the original Gods back to Geilinor? I had a hard time accepting the death of this character, as he was one of the three original Gods from the creation of Runescape. Guthix, Saradomin and Zamorak are staples of the game. I could accept the deaths of the newer Gods, such as what happened to Bandos, because they were not part of the original concept of the game. But, in my mind, those three originals should remain a integral part of the game.
Maybe this World Event could open up the next quest, or even a spin-off quest in the God series. After defeating Tuska (if that's what we do; the mods on the stream also said that they have prepared for the players actually losing the war), we could feel a strange stirring in our blood (or maybe just have Juna call us) and we return to the chamber where Guthix died, only to find his body is no longer there. Using our skills in divination, we need to collect energy from around the world and find where his body has gone, and then return that energy to him to help on his road to recovery.
A weakened God already has been shown in the demise of Zamorak in the first World Event, so it is not beyond the realms of possibility for this to happen.
