PART ONE: Size-able Menus & Bound Keys NOTE: THIS FEATURE WILL BE ABLE TO BE TOGGLED ON OR OFF!
I personally enjoy Runescape very much, although, there is always something whining at the back of my cerebrum, the protracted, laborious, Menu Interface.
By this, I mean that the current Menu Interface is just too slow for a game that has so much potential.
On to my suggestion. I think that the following will greatly increase Runescape's speed and enjoyability levels.
Now, I bet all of you reading this will be thinking, "Well, if all of my keys are bound to my keyboard, how will I chat?" This is simply solved, just require chatters to press the enter key once to chat, and press it once more, to open their Menus again.
This will aid many people in the following things.
1. Player-killing. For example, it is quite difficult for one to switch between, for example, a Dragon Scimitar, and a Dragon Dagger's Special Attack, mainly because one must click four times in about a second, at specific points on the Brown Block and Game Window, and simultaneously hover over their food supply. These two things (for most) determine whether a kill is successful.
2. Increase the general speed of the game, and make Runescape's core easier, and exponentially more efficient.
3. Fighting Bosses for the same reason as Player-Killing.
I plucked these three off the top of my head, I'm sure that there are many more.
PART TWO: Key Binding NOTE: THIS FEATURE WILL BE ABLE TO BE TOGGLED ON OR OFF!
I suggest that you, Jagex Ltd., create the following feature.
Key Binding.
This could be implemented along with my suggestion about Size-able Windows and Bound Keys.
Since the beginning of Runescape, I, along with every other player, have felt the drag of the Runescape UI. Key binding is an amazing, innovative feature present in the MMORPG universe.
The way Key Binding works is, a player presses a key on their keyboard, which opens up the corresponding Menu, similar to the way Jagex Ltd. introduced the use of the F1 - F12 keys. For example, a player opens up the Key Configuration Interface. This interface shows the layout of the player's keyboard. The key "i" says "inventory" under it. If the player can't get used to pressing "i" to open his/her inventory, he/she can click on the "i" key, and drag the "inventory" Key to the spacebar. The player then clicks "Save Changes," and exits the interface. Now, when the player presses the "spacebar," his/her inventory will automatically open.
This movement could also be implemented with anything from Attack Modes, Weapons, Food and Potions, Special Attacks, Emotes, Prayers, to Spells.
This would immensely speed up gameplay and would help make Runescape the best game on the Internet.
PART THREE: Aggression Zones and Markers
I suggest that you, Jagex Ltd., create the following feature.
Aggression Zones, and Monster Aggression Markers.
1. An Aggression Zone is basically a small circle around a player that determines whether or not monsters will become aggressive (attacking the player even if unprovoked) to the specific player. For example, a player's Mini-Map shows the clipping of the World Map around them, with their own dot in the center. Their Aggression Zone would be an opaque area around their dot to indicate whether or not a monster will become aggressive. When a monster does enter the Aggression Zone, it will automatically become aggressive, and continue to be so until the player is well out of range, or the monster is killed.
2. I've noticed that throughout Runescape, if one stands in a certain area for about ten minutes, aggressive monsters in that area become un-aggressive, until the player moves about ten squares away, and then the monster's "aggressiveness" is reset (pardon my word choice). Monster Aggression Markers would simply show a player where a Monster Aggression Zone Ends. Perhaps it could be something like small gaps in the floor around combat areas, or differently shaded floors on the Mini-Map.
These two things will make Runescape much easier to work with.
Thank you for reading/listening to my suggestions. I hope that this does happen to Runescape, even if I do not influence it.
Cross your fingers, everyone!
Please support, or provide constructive criticism. If you disagree with me, please state why. Thanks.
