I'm one of those oddballs who usually listens to the ingame music of runescape, and untill this week, i expected to be giggled at by everyone whenever i admitted it. however, with the new update, i've found the music to be more something i enjoy than something i just listen to as a default. I've found that the new music system allows you to hear the more obscure and unplayed songs that you otherwise hadn't heard before. i mean sure you heard it when you were doing the quest or for 10 seconds as you ran from one area to another, but you never really listened to it until you heard it pop up randomly while slaying or playing a minigame, etc. i didn't even know there was a song "night of the vampyre" until i heard it while killing aberrants, and it sounded pretty good, and the obscure "all's fairy in love and war" is only heard in a place you visit twice for 3 minutes each, during which you are in conversation with a quest npc and don't notice it.

i encourage all of you to give the new sound system a try, not for just sitting in a bank, then you just get music from other banks and lame stuff like that, but when you're out and about, turn your rs music on and listen for that one song that hooks you.

I agree. There's less of a "twang" to calming music and more of an up-beat to the more intense ones. Simply a few added and manipulated instruments here and there with the musics.

As for the sound, I've yet to try it, but so far I haven't heard any major complaints. That must mean it's improved.

And that's gooood!

Sure some of the songs are good but most of the ones I've listened to are too repetitive and often make me drowsy, not the thing I want when playing runescape after the wee hours of midnight.
After I finish listening to the last to RSBANDB Updates I'll give the music another try.
