Here's a screenshot of the general discussion:

See nothing wrong? Let me post it again with a bit of clarification.

I've noticed that nowadays everything comes in as a question and a poll. I always figured the general discussion was used for discussing certain aspects of the game and what others think about it, but instead it's based on directly questioning others about favourites and suggesting in-game ideas. I know that we have a 'Runescape-related questions' section in the RSBANDB forums and I'm not too sure about what effect a suggests forum would present, but all I'm saying is that there is a little bit more answering a question in a different way instead of actually discussing these aspects with your fellow player, ironing out all the consequences to that idea, and ultimately clarifying it for anyone to read about altogether.

That's why I made up this post. To actually discuss whether or not the general discussions forum is actually living up to it's name.

See, this is what I see a 'discussion forum' as. Talking about an aspect involving Runescape.

Manya: Um ... Alex 43, what does talking about a discussion forum have to relate to Runescape?

Well, I don't know. Where else am I supposed to put this?

Besides, it's discussing somehing Runescape related. It's discussing the general discussions of Runescape related ideas, and discussing the discussions of Runescape is related to Runescape, isn't it?

Manya: Excuse me, I have to go wring my brain out now.

So, what does everyone think? And as a post-script, where do you think this post should be if not the general discussion?

In order for anything to be a discussion, the original statement has to be a question.

If you can't tell the difference between a question and a discussion you're an idiot.

That polls were actually discussing the game not asking questions about certain detail in the game or something in it. People just were discussing RS in the topics.

Althought your topic line wasn't a question, you ended your post with TWO QUESTIONS.

"So, what does everyone think? And as a post-script, where do you think this post should be if not the general discussion?"

It's pretty clear what the difference is, so it's not much of an issue.

In my opinion, a question that belongs in the questions forum is something that has a definative answer, for example, '

What level do you need to wield a whip?'

has just one answer, there is no discussion required, it's just an answer.
where as something like.

'Are you getting less random events?'

Is something that is debatelable, it could be true, could be false, in topics like that there is room for discussion, so they belong in general discussion

Yes, some of those questions are just questions to be discussed out of curiousity. They are not an actual factual questions/answers, but mostly opinions. Like "favorite training spot?" for example isn't asking where to train, but what you like best, as a discussion.
