Is it a random event? If it is then your items are at risk until they take it out.

the reaper appears rigth after you die and says some pointless phrase like, "so-and-so you are mine!"

yeah i've also seen the reaper say...."come with me" or "you're mine now"... I think that a halloween drop would've been way more fun.

the reaper is basically pointless..you die so fast you barely have time to register what he says and even what he looks like

to get a zombie head u have to walk around the swamps looking for a zombie you have the option to insult..then insult him and he will drop his head..it moves so u just have to "catch" it then u get one and u can use it to scare the kiddies in lumbridge into giving you candaye!

i suppose one way to find out is either getting killed in lumby or fally (if u've done recruitment drive) then u can see what he looks like and what he says.
