Runescape Usernames

Today in the duel arena, a lvl 60 came up to me and offered to stake 2 whips for my red mask. I looked him up, he had 43 mage. His rsn was "Joe Of Old" I looked up the rsn joe of old, when his real rsn was joe 0f old. Its impossible to tell the difference between the o and the 0 with the runescape font. I accepted the duel. Instead of having 43 mage he had 73, he used the lvl 70 acient spell on me and won the duel. I think this is unfair, he did this on purpose, made the account joe of old so people would look that up instead of his real name.

Jagex should do something, like change the font so the 0 has a slash through it or something..

Yeah I have noticed more whith names like that to scam honest duelers out of money. I think Jagex needs to so something to fix it. Make the zero look like this Ø.

This is in no way scamming, and it is perfectly honest. Unless directly lying and saying you have different skills (which still, technically, is not scamming), just having a tricky name is in no way dishonest.

It gives them an un-fair advantage with a name like 0O0 O 0O 0o O0 and challenge people in fights, they can look you up but its going to take forever to look them up and you might get the wrong name since there is so many combos. On runescape these names would be near impossible to tell apart:

O0o O0 Oo0 000
0Oo 0O Oo0 0O0
0Oo O0 Oo0 O00

Yeah that is kind of a pain there. Its pretty sad how that would happen. They should make the difference noticeable. That is perfectly fair for him though. That was a smart move too. Hes probably making some good cash off of it too.

If you are going to stake millions in a duel, there is a lesson here: make darned sure you know whom you are dealing with.

hm...i just remembered how I saw someone there with a name like that and i never understood why he made so many 0's. Now I do :roll:

ive noticed this also..its perfectly well for them to do it tho as they are allowed howevr i do agree jagex should make the difference noticeable as it would help not only them but us as well..i mean im sure they get alot of reports for that kind of thing..must be annoying

I DISAGREE, joe of old, 00 000 00 0, and 000 0 0 00 are my friends, if you dont like how they duel live with it, you dont HAVE to duel them, so hush, quit being a noob. and dont give away there stats! Get a life....

They should make the change. But also you can see how ppl take advantage of little bugs. For me I dont duel excapt with my clan. Really staking isn't for me...

What you do? if you are not sure if the username has an O or a 0. Then just dont duel them...simple as that...

If you don't like it just dont duel with people with names like that and you should be fine.

lol, genius way to make your life easier, yeah, would some one ask jagex to do so?
