Is everybody crazy? "Mask Price"

People hi alch those rare items because they want to be the only one with those items, then they can be ridiculously rich.

I don't like the way the prices are. People make up those prices. They can have like a lvl 3 noob, as usual, standing in Varrock West Bank and say "Green Masks are now 3 mil each, etc...."

Bottom line is, I don't even know how people decide to make up the price. It just seems to me that 1 person says something for abour 5 hours and the rest would follow what that person says...pathetic.

Well, just for that, I bought a Green Mask at 1.2 mil....

If they do high alcy, how could they be the only one? ...

As someone said before, it's simply supply and demand. There are probably about 5 times as many people playing now as there were when masks were first dropped, but the number of masks hasn't gone up. Never will. So when demand rises, and supplies stay the same (or decrease), price goes up.

That also explains the decrease in decorated armor prices. As more and more people get decorated armor as clue rewards, the supply increases, and the price comes down. Simple as that. Law of Supply and Demand.

Here's what I'd suggest: If you have some cash you can set aside for long-term growth, invest in the rare items that are out of production: Masks, P-Hats, Santa Hats, etc. As the population of Runescape grows, the value of those items will grow too. As for the rest of the crop of "rare" items (Abyssal whip, god armors, dragon armor) - I'd say buyer beware. With all new things, the price is always sky high when it first comes out, then drops down over time. (As the supply increases, the value decreases.) If you invest in those for profit, don't hold on to them for long - month by month, the prices will fall. Just hunt for bargains & then sell quick, before you take a loss.

20% of ppl want one to actually keep cuz they think its cool.
80% just wanna merchant them, some ppl wouldnt realize how much the price changes because of merchants.

personally, i think they dont even look that great except banked, in trade, or in inventory. A set would be nice to keep if you are a collector of rares.
