I'm unsure about avi. I always use wmv.

Well i saved the movie using windows movie maker so it made it *.wmv and when it is done saving it as that file type so i can put it on the internet it asks me if I want to view it first. So i say ok and it opens up windows media player, the movie is fine but there is no sound :(
