Lol don't believe you're all complaining.

Slayer was unheard of and no one saw that coming, no one can claim that's a bad skill.

Just because every 10 year old hasn't kicked and screamed for it like construction (which blew, i might add.) and farming (which, also blew.) does not mean it's going to be terrible.

I hold out some hope, just a bit, i'm praying it wont be as terrible as the last two skills.

I just don't think it would be well done.

I'm not complaining.

We talked about this over MSN XD

It may be a great skill, for all we know? We really don't know much. But for what they gave us it sounds like Slayer and that's not one of my favorites..

na, it sounds like slayer, but im thinking that if it has any similarities, they'll be like having assignments. slayer is just killing stuff, hunting is killing it with elaborite skill.

it isn't hard to walk up to something and slice it in two with your greataxe... but having to use the surrounding area to catch it off guard and bring back a fully intact corpse ready for stuffing and mounting on the wall? you cant do that by simply hitting it with a weapon or shooting it with 20 some arrows. (lets pretend that magic leaves visible wounds...)

nope, imo they should have never made slayer, and instead made this skill, despite the abrupt anouncement

To me, hunting sounds a lot like Slayer, but I'll get used to it as it comes out, like with construction.

Besadon - you seem like a real pessimist (no offense, I hope). I remember that some newb a while back posted on the "Future Updates" regarding "Hunting and Summoning". Personally, as a magic lover myself (And not just on RuneScape), I really hoped that Jagex would release Summoning before Hunting. Now, however, Hunting is starting to sound sort of cool......
and as Nmr said in his data about the poll, a majority of players who voted did say that they wanted to be told about big things before they came out.

And yes, not only noobs visit the polls. I do too, 'cause I want JAGeX to know what their players think. :D

How can everyone assume the skill will suck just because it's going to be realeased the same month it was announced? For all we know, they have been working on it for 6 months and decided to tell us about it now because they're almost ready to release it.

Yes, I thought Summoning was going to be a next "skill" and I was already looking forward to it.

hey, now heres an idea... maybe summoning is being released as part of the magic skill because it directly depends on your hunter skill? in the november bulletin, it said you could have an "imp in a box" from the hunter skill. perhaps you have to actually have the creature captured to be able to summon it...

think about it, if you summon a random creature, its just going to kill everything in sight, but if you summon one you have hunted, captured, and "trained" yourelf, it will obey you and kill everyone else. (hunting doesn't necessarily involve killing)

so instead of releaseing 2 new skills to be able to summon something, they release one and add to magic later as a bonus to get more people into both maging and the new hunting skill.

possibility, no? discuss.

Finally, someone who has some smarts about them. I like you. (y)

You make good points, the only reason I'm not extremely excited about it is because in a way it does sound like Slayer and that is one of my least favorite skills, even though I'm forcing myself to train it at the moment..

Having captured a black demon, for example, and having it obey you in battle would be so awesome. Though since they are like lvl 170 I'm sure, if you can hunt it, of course, that they will be one of the monsters way up in the lvls. XD

^yay, the faculty likes me X)

yeah, i think it would work out pretty balanced that way. someone in another topic complained about how if summoning was included in magic all the level 99 mages would just be granted a major power boost. for free.

if summoning was based on hunting, it would make everyone have to work to summon creatures, instead of excluding the already elite from having to work.

The people with low mage levels will still be at a disadvantage, though. And that's reasonable since they haven't taken the time to get it up. XD

yes and the people who have put the time money and effort into mage get the bonus.

capturing and training beasts... sounds alot like the hunter toon in WoW lets just hope they can pull it off as well as WoW did. if that is where they take the skil. to a summening aspect... they might just leave it at capture these beasts and get exp for it though... u never know

but another thing they could do with it... is setting traps . ie in the wildy, flame, poison, or ice traps to snag unsuspecting pjers

please, do me this favour... never compare runescape and wow. its like a sin of M.O.M.ing (M.M.O.ing)

anyway, im not sure if JAGeX would go as far as to make trapping work on other players. it could get too complicated with all the users and all their traps all on one map, plus with so many different worlds for the trap to spawn on. perhaps you could elaborate on how the system woudl work? (im a technical person, not knowing how it works is like water torture to me)
