I agree with the idea of giving players more hitpoints, but wouldn't that make monsters easier to kill, if they didn't have the hp bonus too? Players could train for long periods without having to use food because there will be much more hp for players than monsters.

As for the dragon dagger's special, I agree that it should be reduced. Only problem here is that every pure known to man would whine and Jagex would be forced to nerf other things too. Either that or they could make a new staff for mages and a new bow for rangers that will have the power of the dds.

Players getting more hp, would mean monsters get more hp, which means xp per hit would be decreased, which means hit power would go up, which means everything would stay the same

i use a dds in the wilderness too, but seeing as im a total defense noob and will never hit a 20 with a dds, i really just go fishing, aka vulturing. for me, the dds is meant ot be an opener wep and a finisher. open with its spec to deal a heavy hit and poisen, then when they get low, spec them agian to seal the deal, unfortunately, with 4 specials in a row, it just turns into "use the whole fight" weapon.

oh, and to answer xOhYax's question (actually, im going to do that and go way way WAY beyond that...), the dds' max hit is doubel 40s. however, this is only if you str pot, ultimate strength pray, and are wearing climbing boots, barrows gloves, rune defender, fighter torso, strength amulet, berserker ring, lava cape, and berserker helm. on a side note, the non special hamx hit is 35.

for comparison, d long spec maxes 49 and non specs 42, d mace maxes 52 with spec and non specs 38 (that 15% bonus is 15% of your str with all items equiped and levels and stuff... even prayer. it effects a lot), and jsut for fun, the dragon 2 handers word maxes non spec of 47, and specs a max of 564. yes, 564, of course, that is spread across 12 different targets maxing 47 on all 12 of them... =P so of all of the weapon specials, the dragon dagger hits with the most force.

most likely only going to find that setup in the duel arena, but still, double 40s is deadly to everyone. thats higher than the max hit that full dharok's with greataxe gives. really, the dds is the best weapon in the game when it comes down to it. the only downside is that it has a very weak accuracy boost. even with a rune defender, it still requires 3rd level prayer and a super attack potion to ensure that you hit decently with it.

overall, the dds is just a hugely powerful weapon.

oh, and as an extra, i'd like ot point out that the dragon halberds special attack can provide a limitless maximum dammage. try this experiment: go to pest control and take your dragon halberd with you. wait until you come to a point where a brawler is holding several monsters inside it and stopping them from moving. align yourself with the brawler and monsers like this:

| X X |O

where the box is the brawler, you are the O, and the Xs are a stack of monsters and a single monster just beyond the stack. if you special attack the far "X", you should hit all the stacked monsters stuck in the brawler as well, and thus generate an imense total damage. =) try a similar approach to get the max hit with th dragon 2 handed sword a swell.

hehe, how i wish anubis's idea was used by jagex.. think what theiving would be like, you could stay for like an hour or so without havnt to get food unless jagex increased the amount an npc dealt when you are found picking their pockets or whatever... but surely, you say a steel dragons defence is what makes it strong? well not all monsters are like that. take lesser demons for instance. they have low hp and their max hit is around 8-9...think of all the monsters jagex would have to change aswell, its like the graphics updates they are doing...think of how long it has taken them to just update rats, skeletons, giants, demons, bears and dragons and there are more! now imagine about 100+ times that amount of time. And thats probably even less the time it will take to update all animals in runescape. i think this is a good idea nonetheless...

im done... :P

About time I say something about this.


If Jagex were to remove dds special, the dds will join the gang of unused weapons like the warhammers and claws.

The dds is useless by itself, and the only good thing about it was the special. The poison was really just an extra effect. Besides, fights end so fast, sometimes the poison havn't even hit the victim yet before he kneels down.

With the dds special gone, a rise of rangers will come, because of MSB's similar double-hitting special, which in fact has range, not close up, an advantage indeed.

However, pking will no longer be profitable, considering how you'll only get MSB's worth less than 1k each, and about 20-50 rune arrows and their dhide, which is only like 20k-50k per kill, instead of the usual dds+d scim/whip+rune plate and legs loot when you kill a meleer.

Pking for profit will die, and the only way to get profit out of pking would be luring, which people are constantly whining about, trying to illegalize it.


With pking ruined, skillers who claim that the game's for fun and not pixels will jump for joy, forgetting that the sole purpose of their whines are because they were too inexperienced to even stand a chance in wildy, therefore losing their valued pixels.


And then there's staking. How many times have you seen people stake millions? How many times have you seen people do dds fights with that much on stake? And how many times have you seen people do normal fights with that much on stake?

Dds is very essential in staking. Almost every fight I've been on/seen that had millions on stake are dds fights. The latter are just mage boxing. (Ancients with no armor/weapons)


So, with the dds specs gone, skillers who don't even have a chance to survive in wildy rejoice, and the PvP aspect of the game will come down crashing.




And bring in the pure rangers.
