lol yeah it does sound like your dad is crazy.. Duel Processors would go great for dedicated servers and such. Also maybe if you have a small home network..

My file server is currently running duel AMD Althon MP's (2800) with 2ghz DDR ram and Twin 160gig serial HDDs.

No problems at all with them.

If needed i could turn my file server into a web server and it wouldnt even break a sweat.

Anyways, my preferrence is and will always be AMD...the 64's are truly amazing.

mmmmm amd..lol I wish i had an amd system... Nice to see people are going with the pro stuff..

Also i find it funny how intel used to be the best cpu company.. With always having the latest, fasted processors, and amd was always behind.. Now amd are much more advanced than intel :)

I have both an intel and an AMD, they are a few years old but still pretty good.

The AMD which I use all the time, is a 2500+ @ only 2Ghz with 768MB of RAM. But my other computer is an intel 2.4ghz with 1GB of RAM, and it is slower and seems to use resources more. They both run win XP and i am basing this asessment on when I did fresh reformats. I like the AMD better.

Oh and the reason the 2500+ is only at 2Ghz is because whenever i put it higher then that... windows will not start. A few times it even corrupted the windows registry causing permanent damage, so then windows wouldn't start at all. So I dunno whats wrong with that.
