Xbox question need help ASAP

My xbox has 3 RROD.

It is broken, won't boot etc.


My dad plans on buying the cheap $4 GB and replacing the HD/ HD+Module from the current xbox and putting it in the new xbox.

Will this work? Are they interchangeable? I have had the xbox since like 2006.


I've always thought them to be interchangeable, but I want to be 100% certain.
