As many adventurers know, life can't be all dragon-slaying and rescuing maidens in distress. For one, dragons are pretty fierce and most maidens tend to be able to look after themselves these days. So, to be a little useful and perhaps earn a crust, the wily adventurer knows how to turn their skills to many a trade, such as the ability to be a guide.

Since Burgh de Rott has had a recent face lift, and the general store has been filled up with supplies, some of the villagers feel ready to brave the trip to Paterdomus, the temple on the Salve. Of course, there are some trivial dangers to keep an eye out for, but nothing that a well-prepared adventurer couldn't deal with.

So stock up your companion with food (just in case), dust off your trusty map and set forth in the new minigame: Temple Trekking.

Features:

* 3 different routes to choose from with varying difficulty.
* 3 different levels of NPC followers to escort.
* Weaker NPCs are more taxing to protect but offer greater rewards if you can keep them alive.
* Rewards from the trip are made in skill related items and tomes of learning - novel ways to level your XP.
* Challenge enormous swamp snakes and protect your trek companion.
* Tackle giant swamp snails and tentacle monsters!
* Solve tricky puzzle encounters.
* Use the temple trekking as a fun, more interesting way to get back to Misthalin.

This minigame is designed to be a more fun and challenging way of making money and gaining xp than your normal RuneScape routine, and gives you something else to worry about while crossing the perilous swamps of Morytania.

Of course, every adventurer likes to feel important – so what better way than to help villagers escape the evil clutches of the vampyre horde? If you really miss the damsels in distress you can always go back to them... but have a wash first. Damsels hate swamps.

NOTE – Only players who have completed last week's quest (In Aid of the Myreque) will be able to attempt this minigame.

Looks like a good update. I really need to start catching up on my quests though. :x I can't do this one yet because I haven't finished last week's quest.

Meh.

Look at the guide for it at the three routes.

'one for low levels'

'one for medium levels'

'one for MEDIUM-high levels'

Don't dam suger coat it if a mid level can do it then it's not made for high levels, shuve it give me an update designed for my level FOR ONCE.

Experience and items, eh. I'm guessing it won't have great value, but it should give me a few moments of entertainment before I get back to slayer. Then again, it might be one of those occasional great updates. Well, I won't know til I try.

They sort of implicate you into doing their quests if you want to do their new mini-game. I'll see how this turns out when I do the quest..which'll be in about 5 months.

I agree with Muscroom Queen.
I was reading it thinking 'Wow this looks interesting and a bit of fun' then noticed I had to do last week's quest and to do that had to do another quest and to do that I had to Nature Spirit. I know they're probably not that hard but Mini games are meant to be 'Games' not something where you have to spend hours preparing for them.

This is a pretty neat concept. It's fun and rewards you with a decent quantity of those items for that timeframe.

I pity those of you who won't even try it because it requires completion of In Aid of the Myreque. That's actually a pretty cool quest.

"I know they're probably not that hard but Mini games are meant to be 'Games' not something where you have to spend hours preparing for them."

You don't spend hours preparing in order to get 40 agility so that you can do all the obstacles in the Brimhaven Agility Arena? Or hours training so that you're not level 3 when you enter Castle Wars? Or so that you can do all of the spells in the mage training arena? Thieving and agility for Rogues Den?

I can't really think of a single mini game that doesn't require preparation in advance.

Except for the game's room, if that counts. And no one uses that.

All of that aside, I'm a little confused with your logic that we shouldn't have to prepare in advance for something just because it's a game. How do you infer this?

EDIT: Post 100. It was bound to happen.

I see both of your points, but my point is that using a new mini-game to leverage the popularity of a new quest doesn't really work out. Looking at the polls, most people wait a while after quests come out and THEN they do them. I think this lessens the activity of the mini-game if people don't do the quests. Mini-games ARE meant to be fun while at the same time requiring the player to have some level of expertise. I think Crio3mo is right in his comparison to CW and the Brimhaven Agility Arenam but people are more apt to have 40 agility or over lvl 3 combat than to have done the latest quest plus previous requirements.

Of course, people who love doing quests don't see this as logical, but there are lots of people who don't like doing them OR prefer doing them later. This is a disadvantage to these people, but not overly unfair.

They were already planning on releasing it the week after, so I don't think their intention was to help the quest's popularity. I'm thinkin their reasoning was that they're distinctly different types of updates, so it just seemed right to release them separately.
