Hi everyone! This will now be the official thread for our weekly PC Gaming Event!

We are in the process of redoing our PC Gaming Event; if you have any suggestions for what we might do, post here!

Where: Our servers are hosted at 45.33.99.4 Add us to your favorites!

Started: April 30, 2009

Resurrected: June 14, 2022

Run By: Pfkninenines and Earth

Announcements:
We are switching up the games each week so that we don't have duplicate games in a row anymore.

Event Winners & Prize:
9/16/14 - artofdvorak - Surgeon Simulator 2013
10/28/14 - Col. Sanders - Metro 2033, Risen, and Sacred Citadel
11/18/14 - Vladimir Putin - Not Claimed
1/13/15 - MageGuy08 - Cave Story+
1/20/15 - Apathy - Not yet claimed
6/14/22 - Ytse - Humble Bundle

System Requirements:
Minimum: Potato from 2008
Recommended: Better potato from 2012
Mac: Minimum: Tin-foil-wrapped potato from 2012+

If you're wondering if your computer can handle any of these games, please refer to the 'Can You Run It' site. It should give you an idea as to your system specs, and what they can do. It's not 100% accurate, though it should give you a baseline.

Other Info:

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch can be found here on Steam.

Our very own Duke Juker wrote a guide for Half-Life 2: Deathmatch here!

Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is free and can be downloaded from Steam

Halo: The Master Chief Collection can be found here! We recommend purchasing, at minimum, Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, but the entire game is worth it!

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive can be found here on Steam.

We now have an official Steam community page. Join it to keep up to date on the current weekly event.

One of the very noticible changes, besides Earth stepping up in a major way, is that we're making the polls start the night of the event. Also, we're doing the polls off-site so you no longer need to take on that burdensome task of logging in and remembering to vote.

So please, come check us out! We've been getting 10+ people for several weeks now and can only hope to continue growing.

And that's not even including the randoms we get because the server actually has people in it, so quickplay will put them in there with us!
I believe we peaked at 18 people this week at the same time

Did you get your own server up for the 3 games yet, Earth? If so, you should probably have the IP listed, else state that we play on a random one.

And what type of L4D2 do you play when it wins? Might be good to list the game modes we play for each game.

Still working on the other servers.

We've actually had too many people to play Left 4 Dead :)

Wow, that's good! Though it would be fun to play a few campaign maps with BnB.

I still say PC Gaming should checkout JC2-MP sometime. JRD and I currently host one of the top 5 most advanced and most popular servers ;)

The only problem with that is that there's no real objective. Yeah, it's fun to mess around, but it's kinda hard to organize an event around it.

May I suggest using a better polling software? (Like the native one or something integrated with Steam) What is the reason? I clicked on the link and tried to vote and it said that I had already voted, which I had not, but Jason probably did. So it is logging votes by IP meaning multiple players at one residence only get one vote. Unless they are sneaky using other IPs and then they can get several more than 1 if wanted and set the result.

If killing people like in HL2 and CS is an objective then JCMP can fulfill that same objective, at least on our server. Kills, Deaths, and KDR are logged and persistent. Players can do team vs team battles with actual goals and consequences.
Did I mention you can drive/fly/boat, while fighting players? :P

I could list more stuff... JC2-MP is not a game that can be judged from one server nor from a short session.

Just suggesting it as another game for the roster. If you want ideas about events you could do for it hit me up on skype. If our server doesn't support something you'd like to do there's a good chance I can make it(I wrote all our scripts and am one of the most experienced scripters of the mod).

Ditto. I'm pretty sure we have a few other related people on BnB and as JRD said, it can easily be abused.
Was logging in really that much of a burden to people?

For CS:GO can we pleaaasseee do Competitive mode? It doesn't have to be ranked, just the game mode where it's 30 rounds/first to 16 and you have to buy armor and w/e.

Building off of what Jason is suggesting, we could do the same with Arma we wanted to. We could just jump into a server and group up, I'm sure. Objectives? No, but it could be a blast if you want to role play it.

Poll for 8-19-14 is available - http://strawpoll.me/2343003

I turned on permissive voting, so for jrdgames and Jason, you may now both vote :).

The poll does not appear to be getting reset... Anyone else notice this? Or am I just missing the new poll?

Yeah, unfortunately it's got to be redone each week manually and I don't think it's been done recently. I believe it's been created and pasted in Mumble during events, but we've forgotten to copy it over. I'll update it for next week (this week will be TF2 again).

Sorry for any confusion.

Wouldn't the forum's native poll software be less or similar hassle to what is being done now?
