Green Man Gaming are the headline sponsor for the Golden Joysticks 2013, and to mark the event we're offering everyone who votes the chance to pick up a free copy of either Civilization V or Mafia II. The same goes if you've already voted! Make sure you thank 2K Games, too, as this wouldn't be possible without them.

This year's awards has a boatload of brilliant games, which we'll be posting about here on the blog in the run up to the final event on the 25th October with a few competitions, polls and other gaming goodness.

Those who submit their votes at www.goldenjoystick.com will then be able to register for a free game from GMG, in association with 2K Games, at https://goldenjoysticks.greenmangaming.com. Qualifying voters will have their choice of a PC Download copy of Mafia II or Sid Meier’s Civilization V, while stocks last.

I've been planning on getting Mafia II because it looks like a decent game, but the site has been down since yesterday when The Internetâ„¢ figured out about getting free games. Hopefully they'll go back online so people can vote, and especially so we can get the games. I mean, let's face it, that's really all we want.

I have over 200 hours logged on Civ 5. It's awesome if you like turn based world dominating games. I still like the Total War series better, but it's different and refreshing.

I grabbed Civ 5 thinking I didn't own it, turns out I bought it some Steam Sale (only reason I could already have it is if I got it on sale) so I gave it to a friends so we can all do some multiplayer together after a hard day of college.

I already have Civ 5 and I'm not interested in Mafia 2. But it's cool they are doing this. This is only for GMG, right? You can't activate the games on Steam?

Finished Mafia II last week and it is a great game. Definitely some quirks, but I would have paid the $5 or $7.50 on a sale. I'd like to pick up some of the DLC, but $9.99 for each of the content-based DLCs isn't worth it to me. Maybe when they're $2.50 each I'll consider.
