Post subject:  Frustration leads to this...

Can anyone recommend another game similar in play to Runescape (as in not all just combat based) for me? Just getting so frustrated with constant lagging and disconnections. Can't even begin thinking about PVM after spending 2 years getting my character up to a stage where I can do it. And the total lack of response from Jagex only adds to the frustration. I won't be be quitting the game (it is too addictive, lol), I just want something else I can play until they get all these issues sorted out... unfortunately I cannot see that happening any time soon, since they are now rushing to get RS3 out and will put even more pressure on sub-standard servers.

Many thanks
Pyrn

There's a Runescape 3..?
What ever happen to Stellardawn or that Transformers MMO I thought they were working on. (great.... idea by the way. *sarcastic*)

It's probably a mix between their servers and your computer/IC. I'm doing my best to dilute your main question as I don't have a proper answer for you.
I played a little Warcraft years ago, that has some skilling like mining and such. You probably want something more free and browsery.

Try searching through these.

Stellar Dawn : 2014/2015(2016 is more likely)
Transformers Universe is slated for release in 2013(yea, THIS year supposedly).

Both are supposed to be browser games. SD is supposed to be JAVA. TU is supposed to use the RuneTek 6. RS3 is supposedly releasing on RuneTek 7(the heck happened to RT6?)

Uhh, back on topic...:)

I don't know that there are any skilling games like RS. That was one of the reasons RS was so popular.

There's the obvious choices (WoW, GW, Mapestory etc.).
Apart from that, are you looking for the same style of game as RS? As in MMORPG and heavily progress based? If not, one of my favourite games at the moment is The Binding of Isaac. You probably wouldn't want to play it if you were religious or extremely squeamish. It's pretty cheap on Steam, ~$5.

Hope I helped :)

Are you sure it's their end and not yours? I haven't played RS in quite some time, but I do know terminology. Lag could be on either their end or yours (or somewhere in between, which is another beast), so be sure to cross off your end first. How is your latency, or more specifically, latency to one of the servers you're trying to play on?

Try using Pingtest to a server near where you're connecting. If you get a low score due to high ping or high jitter, it's quite likely that your connection is the problem. If you end up getting a good score, then you can start assuming it's Jagex's issue.

What kind of games do you like? There's *tons* of stuff on Steam, including plenty of free stuff. Do you like FPS games? Puzzle? Or do you not care as long as the price is right?
