There's finally a countdown, after ~8 years of development by the independent group of developers. It should be a free mod for anyone who has HL2, likely requiring Episode 2 as it uses the newer engine.

Black Mesa: Source is Half Life 1 with newer graphics and the better engine. It's been under development for the past 8 years, almost always being "close" to release. It looks like they're finally ready for the public to get a look.

I've been waiting the whole time. Listening to the soundtrack as I'm posting this. I definitely thing it's gonna be worth the wait. Also I think the release on the 14th is only up to the part right before Xen.

Aaaaaaaand they're releasing it unfinished. Xen and the actual ending of the game won't even be included....

Guess I'll just wait another 8 years for that piece.

They forgot the years section of the countdown.

They've put it up on Greenlight, so please give it a thumbs-up. It will be released regardless, but if it's on greenlight then on Steam, it will be available directly through Steam, and get any patches automatically.

Also, I had forgotten that Valve made the Source SDK free.. So you won't need *any* games in order to play this. Woot!

It has been greenlit! Playing through now to finish it up. :)

I'll get some screenshots to post in the BlackMesa thread (if there is one).
