Modern Warfare 2 Scares Away Singularity Until Next Year

Activision have announced their plans to move Singularity to Q1 2010. The reason? Well Singularity was suppose to be released this fall (along with every other game in existence), but Activision is worried that Modern Warfare 2 will cut sales on Singularity this holiday season.

Kotaku has Activision’s explaination:

“The level of excitement for Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven’s upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010,” said an Activision spokesperson. “We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a ‘must-have’ title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season.”

Although it’s lame that we won’t be able to play Singularity until early next year. They do have a valid reason why to move the date for this new title. Releasing Singularity in fall will only have the game lost in the sea of titles washing up this fall. Releasing it in Q1 of next year, will give the title a chance to find land.

Exactly my thoughts. Good move by them though, as well as moving it to get more attention, they got more from this public annoucment.

I hate to do this but the names call of duty modern warfare 2.

As for this move, meh. Fairly obvious thing to do. There still a giant bunch of ****** that need to rot and die.

buy the most expensive pack and you get working night vision!!!!!

now i know i would never get it cuz it would cost an arm and a leg, and that i would probably never ever ever use the goggles but hell........ i want one!!!!

Might buy the hardened version if the price is right. Just cause i have a fetish for steel casing.

Have zero interest in the night vision goggles..i cannot see any reason why I'd use them and tbh it'd look tatty sitting out on display on that head thing. XD

edit: COD Prestige RRP is $150 i laugh at anybody who buys that. And I'm going to laugh harder at the British RRP and just slap anyone i meet who owns it. This is all apart of Activisions plans to sell over priced plastic **** and over priced gimmicky items to children/parents with more money than sense. Mark my words it's a very nasty road to be going down.

I was going to buy that if it was nearer 70 or 80 quid but I'll probably just stick to buying AC2 Black Edition.

from what i heard people thought that without the cod name it might not sell as well if people didn't know it was part of that series.

that being said, anybody who didn't know it was related to cod are idiots
