Do do do. So it's finally come down far enough in price for me to buy it without feeling ripped off if i hated it.

And as i was a bit of a critic of it I'm just writing my opinions down here which is undoubtable going to turn into an oblivion *****.

Short and sweeeet: I like it.

I think I'm around the 5 hour mark, not all that far but in enough to see what it's about and decide if i like it or not. Tutorial bored me but i suppose it beat obliv..uhm other games. Like the art style but not all over megaton looks like **** and I know it's supposed to look like crap what i mean is the entire design is ****, i really don't like that place. And i still find it hard to swallow, no matter how ******* crazy you are that you'd form a religion around a bomb and actually get people to listen. VATs is a god send.

for those that where like me and hated oblivion and wasn't sure on Fallout 3 allow me to put your mind at ease;

It is basically oblivion without the *******.
-I start carrying to much stuff? Naturally with heavy luggage i slow down, I don't get glued to the **** floor and unable to move.

-Vampires are in the game but thus far have not **** turned me into one and annoyed the HELL out of me.

-Does not take a 50 hits to kill a seemingly harmless animal that would normally die to one sword blow. Nor do you get ambushed by an idiotic amount of enemys this time, actually i did get jumped by a raider, two dogs and a giant crab thing once but i managed to kill them all because they die in a reasonable amount of time.

- I can actually steal ****. Seriously it didn't matter where i was in oblivion, if i slept in a bed with no one around, or i stole a bloody wooden SPOON from a room with no one in it you can BET your money I'd be chased out of bloody town. Not the case, I've happily robbed every poor ******** in the wasteland of there stuff and I've not been caught yet.

I think what i like the most is the karma system. In oblivion i start off in PRISON, I've no idea how long I've been there but before i know it I'm happily helping out the king. If he'd shut me away in a prison the last thing I'd do is help. But no, without a choice off i go helping his son (was it?) become the new king to save the world. A world i didn't care about. Full of people demanding my help and out of the goodness of my soul i happily help.

There's no choice, I want to kill the kings son and become king. In fallout if i want weapons or ammo, i go into the wasteland and kill someone for it. No having to sit through an hour of hacking away at a stupid monster/bandit. Reminds me a lot of mad max actually. And i like the feeling of it being dog eat dog and every man for himself.

A new oblivion should be out this year i think, add in the VAT system I don't care if it doesn't fit with the world, just do it. Being able to pick what part of the body i want to swing my sword at and actually having it be effective will massively help the bore factor. Keep the karma system, lose the vampires, let me be king, don't screw up the theiving.

I tried to stop it being an oblivion rant but oh well. :)

IN SHORT: Fallout good. Oblivion bad.

I loved Oblivion, and I still do. I've put in over 120 hours.

I loved Fallout 3 too, and I really like the way they did the VATS and other things.

But, I do need to say that there are some parts of your rant where it's a little bit overboard, like the bit about 30 blows to an animal that would die win one blow? I do know that it takes a little more hits to kill a bear or something, but you either don't have an enchantment on your sword or that your strength and sword skill are too weak.

That's because the leveling in oblivion is slower than it is in fallout and you get your *** handed to you while you try to level up. The leveling system in fallout is a lot more balanced and user friendly. As for enchanting, again, i shouldn't need to enchant a weapon to make it useful. It's a sword. Should be able to slice through flesh easily and it never did.

Fallout 3, i got hold of a shotgun fairly early on and managed to take down one of those big mutant guys in 2-3 blows. :D

Oh and oblivion seriously lacked a big bad dragon. And it should of had robin hood too.

What I love about in fallout is the sheer size of the game, plus there are'nt **** loads of loading signs everywhere too which is always good. I also like the fact that there are deathclaws, super-mutant behemoths and glowing ones etc wheras with oblivion its all pretty much shoot them, get **** all, walk somewhere else, repeat.
One thing that fallout did lack though is the use of say, a ******* rundown motorbike, or maybe even a plane where you can fly to a couple of airports around the map because in oblivion you had horses. But then I guess not having faster travel makes it much bigger and forces you to actually explore places more. I mean come on, surely with all those **** cars everywhere people can get some petrol out of them?

I'm sorry Creepy, but to me it seems like most of your rants are because you can't play Oblivion well. Thieving is possible, and you can get surrounded by a kazillion of enemies and still kill them all and survive if you're good at dodging and blocking. Unlike what you think, it does have some learning curve and if all you do in combat is hit RT then naturally you'll die. And as for slashing "50 times", I dunno what you're talking about, I can kill almost anything in one slash and even new characters can kill most enemies on 10 or so slashes. And what's the point in vampires if you can't become one? You can get out of it if you don't like it.

Actually your rant lacks the main flaws of Oblivion, and those are:

-All NPCs are so expressionless and monotone that they really seem like zombies, plus you can kill fifty people around them and they won't even care (Unlike in Fable 2, which is quite the contrary, I pull out my sword and everyone runs around screaming).
-The AI sucks.
-Probably the glitchiest game ever.
-Physics wtf
-Don't play in third person. It looks terrible.

Oh well I guess this is offtopic, but you started it. /end of counter-rant

You say you can get out of it, but to get out of it you have to trek halfway round the world, collecting ingrediants from the most obscure places. Aswell as this you have to hide everytime its day. It took me about a week to get out of it and it was a joke. Fallout 3 is by far a better game imo.

That's a good idea. A run down motorbike would be awesome, you could scavange some fuel like you do ammo. I was thinking i could do with a horse as i was walking along there. XD

Yup. Like most problems with oblivion thers a way around it. Pity it's a massive royal pain in the *** and it usually becomes as bad as the problem you originally faced. XD

Slimpoo - of course theres ways around my complaints. That doesn't make them anyless legit. I do get caught stealing when theres nobody in the room. I don't care if i can manage it someway, somehow. If theres no one in the room i should NOT be caught. This isn't big brother, there isn't a camera in every room.

There's bonus sides to vampirism as well, and that is, WAY better stats. The quest for the cure is only there if you decide to try out being a vampire, so naturally, the way out of it should be challenging. Otherwise you can cure it with a Cure Disease spell or potion or by praying at an altar if you do it within a few game days.

I'd say all the good things about vampirism are cancelled out by how much you have to hide. Anyway we need to stop going off topic :D

I think a rundown motorbike would be awesome. If not that, maybe there could be the same kind of blueprints to make vehicles out of unique pieces of scrap across the Fallout world.

Yeah fallout is definitely one of my favorite games. I have all the DLC for it and Broken Steel is the best by the way. My only complaint is the bobble heads. I mean they are okay but there is one that i know the developers would be "hey lets do this to make people mad" they put it in Vault 101. Why did they have to do that I wasn't looking for bobble heads when i first started the game. What were they thinking!

You can get that one later in the game when you go back to Vault 101, it's just in a different room.

Have you played Skate 2?
And on topic, go to rivet city, go to the top floor, and theres a ******* airstrip with like 20 airoplanes on it.

What the ****? So they just don't work, yet there are countless lamps still on in loads of those run-down shacks in the middle of nowhere with no-one for miles.

oblivion is one of those games where you're gonna know exactly what to do right when you start if you've played the previous games (morrowind in particular). if you havent played morrowind, youre gonna be lost right away. also, not trying to be a ****, but it really helps to read the entire manual a couple times before even playing the game if its your first time. the leveling system especially is something that you need to take into account when you're planning (yes, planning. you must plan which skills youre gonna use throughout the game, and if its your first time playing, how the hell would you know?) out your character.

anyways, fallout good, oblivion good.
