well i finished playing mass effect for the pc. it was a great game, those that played knights of the old republic knows exactly what the formula is. the story is this, you are a commander for the human alliance and you were sent on a mission to recover a lost artifact. while onroute you received a distress call from the planet that an alien robotic race is attacking the colony. when you find the artifact you noticed that it was a beacon that gives you a message about an impending doom. you then go and report the situation to the galactic council which finds that one of their top agents has gone rogue and it is up to you to stop him. then you go shoot things. those who played kotor may remember that you can turn to the dark side or the light side and this game has it too but overall i never saw it affect the game whatsoever. the game itself isn't very long if you just do the missions and none of the side quest but then doing so means you have less cash and a lot less armor and weapon upgrades. the game made you decide on some very tough choices which does a lot for the game. it does have achievements that give you medals as you progress and to unlock them all you have to play the game many many times. the first time through you may take your choices more seriously but after that you just want to see a blue alien topless. or a hot chick if you prefer. the game was great and those who have the time should try this out. |

It really is a great RPG, such a great storyline. It would be nice if it had Multiplayer though :] |

Hah, the topless alien chick was all over the news at one point in time ... One of the best RPGs I've ever played. Has a ton of different locations (organized by milky way, system, etc.) and side quests, and the sci-fi soundtrack was a plus for me. The storyline was pretty good overall, along with the different skills you could obtain (especially after playing through with the same character twice). The weapon upgrades got a little old after you got the first 10,000 of them though ![]() For the sake of review, I'd rate it 9.5/10 ![]() |

I thought it was a good RPG as well but I didn't really enjoy the story as much as everyone else. I just thought it was a B+ storyline. I would still have to say my favorite RPG is Oblivion. |

I have to disagree with Dragon. The storyline is one of the deepest, most detailed, most realistic storyline I've ever seen. It was like reading out of a history book, only with more guns and bisexual aliens. ![]() The only part that really creeped me out is that you can even learn how many ******** Krogans have (they have 4. FOUR BALLS!) ![]() |

I thought the depth of the storyline in Mass Effect was great, from the histories of the different species to the stories of technology improving. I became an instant alien sympathizer (even though I didn't save Liara T'Soni for the longest time ![]() Spoiler for wrex:
One thing that bothered me about Mass Effect (perhaps this is just my personal failing) was that it took me absolutely forever to find where I had to go. I spent absolutely forever on that one planet with the Thorian simply because I couldn't find where I had to go next, and I spent about an hour extra than I should have running around the Citadel during different parts of the game. ![]() The AI was a bit frustrating at times, too. However, I've only played on the easiest difficulty level (just started a replay on medium, no combat yet) and still never figured out how to use medi-gel to heal my squad. Yay for the Unity power! ![]() |
