Are they any good?

I'm thinking about picking one up, but I'm not sure if they're worth what they cost. Any ideas?

And no, DS sucks so just, no.

I have a PSP, but I wish I had gotten a DS.

I hear the PSP sucks. I'd avoid it just cause it's sony myself but ya i owned a DS and sold it, wasn't anything that interested me on there. Very casual games, even the Nintendo franchises like Mario felt sorta dumbed down.

Although it does have Mario 64 and stuff. :P

I have the PSP, and I must say, I used to love it so much when I was a Sony fanboy in 2005-6.

But I as went more and more into the PC Gaming direction, it got boring.

PSP lacks any good, engrossing games while the DS has tons.

Sure, the PSP can play movies, music, photos etc. It has a web browser, RSS video/audio reader etc. The iPod does all that.

After 2-3 years of owning the PSP, I wish I'd gotten an iPod or DS instead.

well, I have a psp and I like it quite a bit, I also like the DS but only for Pokemanz  but with the psp, you can do quite a bit of cool things with it, but I don't think I am allowed to explain them on this forum  but I'd say get a psp if you travel a lot ( not driving yourself ;) ) or if you like to experiment with different kinds of tools etc.

All in all, I like my psp and I would buy it all over again if I had to :D

I have both, but I mainly use my PSP not just for gaming but for listening or watching my favourite South Park episodes I downloaded on the go. It's a pretty solid handled console, but if you plan on buying it get the slim PSP and either get a screen protector of some sort with it.

Yeah, the PSP is a bit fragile.

I've been looking at them lately but there's not very many games on it that I reckon I'd enjoy playing. Even at my local game store there's near to no space for the games, it's just tucked away neatly in the corner where no-one can see it.

Thats my main problem with the PSP, there really aren't many good or engrossing games for it. I see my friends playing DS and a lot of the games I wish were on PSP.

I enjoy using my PSP for long car journeys and stuff like that but all the games are just crappy rip-offs of other more successful games, its like they can't think of new ideas.

And I just noticed that all the good PSP games get ported to the PS2 anyway.

I got both a PSP (the old, fat version) and a DS Lite.

I'm satisfied with both. They both have some very decent and nice games. I don't use them too often but I like 'em. :)

The psp is pretty good only if you know what to do with it :) but the other fetures are pretty good that can get you around if you have wifi. And just recently they released skype fo the slim and GOmessenger(Aim/Voice chat) in the uk, which will be later released in US.

more like vice versa all the good games on the psp are ported FROM the ps2 or ps1 consoles.

tho i do own both the a psp & the original DS(not lite, but not heavy either), not to crazy for either as the games are all quicky stuff that' u'd have to be a kid to enjoy or take more than a day to get thru. tho some of the things they are talking about adding to the psp are sound ideas but we'll just see how effective they are once launched.
